Ingredients

  • Fine cornmeal (fubá)
  • All-purpose flour
  • Sugar
  • Eggs
  • Milk
  • Butter
  • Baking powder
  • Parmesan cheese (optional)
  • Fennel seeds (optional)

Method

  1. Sift cornmeal and flour together to remove all lumps.

  2. Cream butter and sugar, then beat in eggs.

  3. Alternate adding the sifted dry mix and milk.

  4. Fold in baking powder last.

  5. Pour into a greased tube or round pan.

  6. Bake at 180 °C for 35-40 minutes until golden and springy.
