Ingredients

  • All-purpose flour
  • Baking powder
  • Salt
  • Warm water
  • Neutral frying oil

Method

  1. Mix flour, baking powder, salt, and warm water into a soft dough; rest 30 minutes.

  2. Divide into balls and pat or stretch each into a thin disc with a hole in the center.

  3. Heat oil to 190 °C in a heavy pot, checking with a thermometer.

  4. Fry each disc 1-2 minutes per side until puffed and golden.

  5. Drain on paper towels.

  6. Serve warm with honey, powdered sugar, or savory toppings.
